Etronics.com has the Yamaha RX-797 Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Receiver for $376.06 with free shipping and handling. That’s a drop of about $10 since I last updated this product listing in late February and still the best price I could find for a new, sealed box unit at an acceptable retailer. Most are selling this receiver for $499+. It’s Yamaha’s top of the line stereo receiver – you can find a more thorough explanation of Yamaha’s product line in this video from Crutchfield.

Newegg.com has the YAMAHA 5.1-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver RX-V365 for $119.99 plus $9.99 shipping and handling (after coupon “EMCYPZN35″). Even with shipping, that’s still the best price available by at least $30. This is an entry level home theater receiver, but Yamaha has a reputation for good sounding amps/receivers. If you’re trying to assemble a system on a tight budget, this is worth a look. Take a look at the review from What Hi Fi? to get a better sense of this receiver’s limitations — it might not pass muster for many of you, but the price was low enough that I thought it deserved a listing.

Amazon has the Yamaha DVD-S1800BL 1080p Upconverting DVD SACD Player for $79.99 with free shipping and handling. Many of the reviewers on Amazon praise the sound quality of this unit when used as a CD player. It sold for close to retail of $249 until about six months ago, when it was discontinued in favor of newer blu-ray models. Amazon seems to have the last of these in stock, and is selling them for a bargain price. It has some good audio processing on-board: Four two-channel Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs and an “Audio Direct” mode.
