For those of you who don’t have easy access to a Pioneer Elite dealer, I’ve found one online vendor that sells their higher end audio line: United Online Shopping. While there’s a good chance these are grey market products, this merchant has gotten good reviews from resellerratings (hence my willingness to mention them here). Worth checking out is the Pioneer Elite SX-A6-J Audio Receiver, available for $414.99. The similar A-A6 Integrated Amplifier (which lacks the am/fm tuner component) received 5 stars from What Hi Fi? If anyone has had experience with this vendor, let me know.

for $534.36 $519.11 with free shipping and handling. That’s $130 under Best Buy’s current price, and $15 less than Vann’s, Abe’s of Maine. This model is a step above the non-THX Select2 Plus certified (but hard to find) model 1019 (which is one of the highest rated receivers on Cnet) (others have noted that this model is essentially equivalent to the Elite 21 model). The reviewers on Amazon appear to be extremely happy with it.
