Electronics-Expo has the AudioSource AMP-100 2-Channel Bridgeable Stereo Power Amplifier for $74 plus $14.99 shipping and handling. Even with shipping, that beats my prior mention of this product by $2 (just over 3 weeks ago). This is designed for use as a “Zone 2″ amplifier, typically run from a receiver with multi-room capability. However, it is also a perfectly capable amplifier for a budget music or computer setup, particularly if you aren’t attempting to hook up multiple sources at once. Check out this review from Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity for more information. This would be ideal in an office setup hooked up to your computer or to a CD player (if you only play CDs), driving a nice set of bookshelf speakers.

Audio Advisor (via Amazon) has the NAD – T-955 – 5 Channel Power Amplifier for $799 with free shipping and handling. The retail price on this model was $1,500 — it’s been phased out to make place for amps with 7+ channels, but if you want to build a really top notch 5.1 surround system, this would be a great amp. Check out the review at Home Theater Sound for more information.

J&R Music World has the highly regarded Adcom GFA-5500 Stereo Power Amplifier for a low $849 with free shipping and handling. Although $236 higher than a deal at Kmart back in March (which sold out fairly quickly), that’s still the lowest price I’ve seen at J&R and a few hundred dollars less than anywhere else. It normally sells for $1,499. This model is similar in specifications and operation to Adcom’s prior model GFA-555, which was the subject of this 1985 review by Stereophile (stereo technology hasn’t changed that much in the past 24 years). It puts out 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 350 watts per channel into 4 ohms. It can handle pretty much any speaker you throw at it.

AudioAdvisor still has a number of Parasound amplifiers and preamplifiers in its “factory refreshed” clearance section at savings of 15 to 25 percent off of MSRP. All come with 5 year warranties. Among the items available:
Parasound – JC-1 400-Watt Mono Amplifier – Each – Factory Refreshed for $3,375 (lists for $4,500)
Parasound – Halo – P-3 Preamplifier – Factory Refreshed for $721.65 (lists for $850)
(unfortunately, the JC-2 Stereo Preamplifier and A-21 250WRMS Stereo Amp have both sold out since my last mention of this deal in mid-May). The Parasound website has links to almost all the reviews of its products.

Amazon has the Adcom GFA-6006 70-Watt 6-Channel 3-Zone Multi-Room Amplifier for $770.99 with free shipping and handling. That’s a good price for this amplifier – designed primarily for custom installed where you want to set up speakers in multiple rooms. There’s more information on this amp on the Adcom website.

OneCall (via Amazon) has the Adcom GFA-555SE 2-Channel 200-Watt Amplifier for $793.33 with free shipping and handling. That’s more than $500 below MSRP of $1,299. This is essentially a re-release/upgrade of Adcom’s prior model GFA-555, which was the subject of this 1985 review by Stereophile (stereo technology hasn’t changed that much in the past 24 years). It puts out 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 350 watts per channel into 4 ohms. It can handle pretty much any speaker you throw at it.

OneCall has the Adcom GFA6002 Factory Renewed Single Zone 70 Watts x2 Amplifier for $399 with free shipping and handling. That $165 lower than the best price available for a new, sealed-box unit. This power amp is intended for use in a second zone, but could also be used as a primary amp. Although I couldn’t find any expert reviews of this model, Adcom amps are generally regarded as having good build and sound quality.

Spearit Sound (via Amazon) has the NAD – C-275BEE – Stereo Power Amplifier (refurbished) for $949 with free shipping and handling. That’s $250 below the best price available for a new, sealed-box unit. This is the first time I have seen a refurbished version of this power amplifier. Not much to say about this unit other than it’s made by a great company and has lots of power. You can check out the specifications at the NAD website.

J&R Music World has the Adcom GFA-5400 2-Channel Stereo Power Amplifier for an extremely low price of $499 with free shipping and handling. I couldn’t find it anywhere else for less than close to $650, and most reputable retailers charge $799. This amp puts out 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms. I couldn’t find a review of this specific model, but a number of adcom models have been reviewed over the years by Stereophile (search for Adcom).

AudioAdvisor.com (via Amazon marketplace) has the Parasound – 2125 125-Watt THX Ultra2 Two-Channel Amplifier for $549.99 with free shipping and handling. This power amplifier originally retailed for over $700 — and no one else has it for sale online at the moment. There’s a nice review at Enjoythemusic.com.
