Newegg has the Sennheiser CX300-B Earbuds (Black) for $17.99 plus $1.99 shipping and handling (with coupon “HEADPHONE727A”). That’s the lowest price I’ve seen on these in the last couple months. I’ve had a pair for a few years, and despite trying other in-ear headphones, I keep returning to these (they are the most comfortable ones I’ve found for my ears). They get good marks in the review from Cnet. If you’re still using the stock ear-buds that came with your MP3 player, you’ll find these to be a nice upgrade.

Electronics-Expo has the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio High-Definition Headphones from Monster for $197 plus $6.99 shipping and handling (after coupon “STBEATS”). Although $2 higher than my last mention of this product in late June, that’s still $25 better than I could find anyplace else (even with shipping). Most vendors are still selling these for $299+. Cnet’s review explains the features well (they are powered and noise cancelling). Even if you’re not a fan of Dr. Dre, these are worth exploring if you’re in the market for new headphones. Stereophile reviewed these in its March 2010 issue.

Musician’s Friend has the Ultrasone HFI-450 S-Logic Surround Headphones Black for $49.99. Shipping is free on orders totaling more than $99. That matches the best price I’ve seen on this model. I have a similar model (the HFI550 – now discontinued) and have been very pleased with the sound and build quality.

J&R Music World has the Sennheiser IE6 Ear-Canal Headphones for $99.99 with free shipping and handling. That’s $60 off MSRP and the lowest price I’ve seen by $7. There’s a good review at TechPowerUp which describes these well.

FYI: This coupon was initially set to expire on July 5, but it is still active as of 7/11: Earphone Solutions takes 18% off all orders with coupon “IND18″. That’s the best percent-off coupon from Earphone Solutions this year. Two models are excluded: the Westone UM1 and the Shure SE425. Best bets are headphones from Grado, Audeo Phonak or Klipsch (which are rarely discounted).

DailySteals (via Buy.com) has the Sony MDR-EX71SL Black Fontopia In-the-Ear Headphones With Closed Type Design to Reduce Outside Noise with 2.5mm & 3.5mm Adapters (Bulk Packaged) for $4.99 plus $4.99 shipping and handling. Even with shipping that’s the best price I could find by at least $7. I’ve owned these headphones for 7 or 8 years, and have been very pleased with the comfort and sound quality (although they are reaching the end of their life and beginning to fall apart). I don’t know much about this retailer, but for less than $10 shipped, figured it was worth posting.

SuperBiiz has the Sennheiser HD280 Professional Headphone (Black) (in black) in stock for $66.29 with free shipping and handling (after coupon “SUNSHINE15″) (coupon expires 7/11). That’s the lowest price I’ve seen this year. These are normally sell for around $99 from reputable retailers. Cnet (and others) rate these highly.

RMC Audio Direct has the Ultrasone HFI-2400 S-Logic Headphones for $246.75 with free shipping and handling (after coupon code “PHONES”). That’s at least $40 below the next best price available. This model is near the top of Ultrasone’s line of open-back headphones. Check out the review at technewsHW to see what they had to say about sound quality and comfort (they gave it “highly recommended” status).

Adorama has the Klipsch Custom-3 Stereo Earphone – Stereo – Black for $99.99 with free shipping and handling. Amazon has the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi Noise Isolating Earphones w/ Microphone for $69.99 with free shipping and handling. Although $10 higher than my last mention of this product on June 1 (when it was a “deal of the day” at Amazon), it’s still the best price available from a reputable retailer by at least $65. Check out the review at digital trends for more information on this model (remember that the price as reviewed was significantly higher than this deal). At this price, these headphones should be on your short list if you’re looking for a pair with an integrated microphone.

Amazon.com has the Monster Turbine High-Performance In-Ear Speakers in stock for $106.76. That’s the best price available (barring retailers of questionable reputation), and well below the $149+ being charged by most of the major online dealers. This is the “entry-level” turbine model, but it nevertheless has received good marks, including this review from Cnet.

HeadphoneSolutions.com is currently taking 15% off all orders with coupon code “DAD15″ (expires 6/20). A best bet is to use this for Grado Headphones, which are rarely (if ever) discounted by anyone, and often excluded from coupon deals at other vendors. Using this coupon gives the best prices available on all models.

EarphoneSolutions takes 15% Off Entire Order with Coupon “DAD15″. That matches their graduation coupon which expired earlier this month, and it leads to some of the best prices available on a number of headphones (coupon expires 6/20/10). Some best bets: the S4 Image Headphones by Klipsch (black) for $67.15 with free S&H and the Audeo PFE112 Earphones Black Phonak Version 2 for $118.15 with free S&H. The Klipsch headphones were selected as an Editor’s Choice product and received the highest rating of any in-ear headphone in a review by Cnet. The Audeo Phonak earphones earned an “Editor’s Choice” designation in a four star review from Cnet, and also received an excellent review at TrustedReviews.com.

Musician’s Friend has the Ultrasone PRO 650 Surround Sound Stereo Headphones for $99 with free shipping and handling. That’s $200 under MSRP and the lowest price I could find by at least $130. There’s a nice four page review at TheTechLounge. From the author’s conclusion: “There’s no question that Ultrasone has created one incredible pair of headphones with the PROline 650. For anyone that’s in the market for headphones that could be the last pair you’ll ever want or need, the 650 would be a very solid choice.” I have the step-down 550 model and think they’re great.

Amazon has the Shure SE420 – Sound Isolating headphones (white) for $164.99 with free shipping and handling. That’s the best price available by at least $30 and the lowest I’ve seen for this particular model. They received an “excellent” review from cnet.

Beach Camera has the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 (REFURBISHED) Open-air dynamic audiophile headphones for $64.95 with free shipping and handling. That’s at least $15 below the best price I’ve seen for a new, sealed-box unit. They come with a 90 day warranty. This review from techPowerUp has some great pictures and descriptions. This review from Soundstage does a good job describing the relative merits of these headphones. The reviewer concluded:
So, in the final analysis, what did I think of the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700s? Well, as I’m writing this I’m using them to listen to the DVD-A of the Eric Clapton and B.B. King’s Riding with the King [Reprise 9 47612-9]. The bass is deep, the vocals are clear and reasonably precise, the guitars sear, and the treble manages to convey the essence of the high frequencies. For their street price, which is as low as $112, I don’t see how you can go wrong with them, provided they fit you comfortably. As a matter of fact, in their actual price range, I seriously doubt you’ll find too much in the way of competition sonically. That the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 headphones can go toe-to-toe with cans that cost double their price means they open up the realm of high-quality headphone listening to those on a strict budget. No, they’re not the be-all and end-all of headphones, but what they do right, they do very right, and what they do less than right, they manage to do well enough. About the best compliment I can pay the ATH-AD700s is that they play the music in a pure, even-handed, and coherent way, and with them you’ll find yourself searching for opportunities to listen.
For those of you making your first foray into over-the-ear headphones, note that these are “open” — meaning the noise is not isolated (someone sitting next to you will be able to hear what you are listening to). The up side to open headphones is that they sound less muffled and are more like listening to speakers.

J&R Music World has the Audio Technica ATH-ES7-BK Portable Headphones – Black REFURBISHED for $39.99 plus approximately $7 for shipping. J&R Music World has dropped their price on the Sennheiser HD-515 Audiophile 500 Series Headphones to $59 plus $2.95 for shipping and handling. Even with shipping, that’s the lowest price I’ve seen from a reputable vendor. This is Sennheiser’s entry-level “audiophile” headphone. The next model up is the HD555, which has gone as low as $89 elsewhere. Check out the review at cnet for more information on this model.
